The Challenge

Since the pandemic, we've moved from some work from home when needed to most colleagues working from home more often than coming into the office.  Where possible we've given people the choice, which we see as a good move.

But while we've given people what they want, and we're recruiting well, we're struggling with a cohesive culture that works for our new working model.  You've been recommended to us by (charity), how can you help?

The Work
we did

To create a culture that would thrive in a hybrid environment, we began by conducting a comprehensive culture assessment with all colleagues which allowed us to understand the needs and dynamics across different teams, uncovering both strengths and areas needing attention.

Next, we worked with the team to co-create an ideal culture model, tailored specifically for their hybrid working structure. Through workshops and interactive sessions, colleagues were directly involved in defining the culture they aspired to build, ensuring it resonated with the entire team.

With these foundation set, we undertook our Interdependencies™ exercise and mapped workflow interactions and then focused on fostering a shared understanding and commitment to this new ideal culture. Through a combination of training, regular comms, and feedback sessions, we helped colleagues embrace the culture transformation journey, ensuring that everyone understood their role in shaping this new way of working.

Finally, we empowered the team to take ownership of the values underpinning the culture. By translating these values into clear, practical behaviours, colleagues were equipped to actively bring the culture to life in their day-to-day interactions, solidifying a cohesive, resilient culture that aligned with the organisation’s goals and vision.

The Outcome

As a result of the work we did with Claire, we've seen an organisational shift toward a cohesive, engaged, and resilient culture. In our recent Pulse survey, colleagues say that regardless of location, they feel more connected to one another and are more aware of their place within the workings of our organisational machine.

The co-created internal reflection of our values have become a natural part of daily interactions, and have helped foster mutual respect, teamwork and accountability.

I've been particularly impressed with the sense of ownership instilled in the team meant that the culture was not only understood but actively lived, driving positive behaviours and improving overall morale.   We now have a hybrid culture that much better supports both flexibility and unity, and is allowing us to reinforce our ability to recruit, retain, and nurture talent. It's been transformational.
